With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, love is in the air for Nancy Clancy—well, sort of! In Nancy Clancy, Secret Admirer, written by Jane O’Connor and illustrated by Robin Preiss Glasser, mischievous Nancy and her best friend, Bree, set out to make their babysitter and Nancy’s

guitar teacher fall in love. But who would have thought that making two people fall in love would be so much work?! Packed with excellent vocabulary, wonderful illustrations, and a playful storyline, Secret Admirer is a quick and enjoyable read that is sure to leave a smile on your face.

Our toddler has a small obsession with Fancy Nancy after her grandmother gifted her with Fancy Nancy: Splendiferous Christmas last year. She's too young for this book (and about 80% of the other books in her book case), but she loves it just the same.

It was enjoyable listening to my unsuspecting

husband reading it aloud, the lessons in the book are not pushy. I guessed the ending, but I have years and years of teen television shows, movies, and literary tropes to draw on. Once she can read, I'm sure my daughter will continue to love this book.

A big thank you to Harper Collins for sending me this title to review. This has not influenced my opinion of the book.

I adore Fancy Nancy and I have enjoyed adding the Nancy Clancy chapter series to the collection in our library. The books are great for beginning chapter readers and still have fun illustrations like the picture books to keep interest.

The story line in this book is charming and sweet. Both girls learn a good lesson about friendship and love. Readers are also introduced to more vocabulary than the first book in the series.

This was a much needed addition to our Valentine collection at the school library were I work. I recommend this title for Grades 2nd-4th.

Was a cute story but lacked interesting mystery for kids to stick around and listen to. This would be a fun quick read around valentines day to get the kids excited for the holiday.

This series is cute and worth checking out. I have to give a higher rating to the first book over this one (it was really good). The first one contained a great sleuth type mystery...this book leans heavily on a valentines-love is in the air-get people to fall in love theme with very little

sleuthing or mystery. I think for the age group it is just a bit too mushy gushy for my tastes. That being said the romance was tame and the ending was appropriate. We will definitely be on the look out for more in this series - but we will have our fingers crossed for a more pre-nancy drew feel then this had.

It was very entertaining for my 5 year old! Nancy and Bree play "cupid" and try to set up two teenagers, Andy and Annie! Lots of talk about falling in love, secret admirers, and finding eternal love. Might be a bit over the heads of some young readers.
