Sequel to "Sunny Side Up" and a very quick read (for me). Sunny's parents sent her older brother Dale to a military boarding school and his absence haunts Sunny. She thinks about him often, wishing there was a way she could change him back to the adored brother she remembers. But life goes on:

watching favorite TV shows with her friend, celebrating the fall and winter holidays, a visit from Gramps, a new neighbor who teachers Sunny how to twirl flags. Doesn't quite have the emotional magic of the first book but maybe that's the point; life may have taken an unexpected turn but the mundanities continue.

This is the second book of the wonderful character Sunny. I love that it is dated back in the Seventies because it brings so many great memories when I grew up back then. Plus it's in PA which is even more awesome! Hello flashback of a trip to the Poconos! Anyway, Sunny is back in school and

hanging with her friend but still misses her brother who is in boarding school. There are a few things Sunny learns as well as her brother. Always a good story right til the end.

September 1976, Pennsylvania. (I was 2 months away from my 7th birthday!)
Lots of memories in this for me - General Hospital, Swamp Thing, Six Million Dollar Man, Donny & Marie - all gave me a smile! Heck, I even gave my daughter a Pet Rock a few years ago!

school this year, really related to how Sunny feels about school! It is a good read, full of real emotions and the highs and lows of that age. Her feelings about her brother's situation read like a true story. I liked it and she liked it, so check it out!

I am really loving this series. I like that it is teaching young children how to handle life when a family member has a drug problem. Sunny is so bright and has a great heart. Great series and the art is wonderful.

This was a fun sequel to Sunny Side Up. I don’t think it was good. It was straightforward instead of jumping back and forth in time like the previous book. It spans a year and the major conflict is her brother trying to get help for his addiction and bad behavior. But that is the underlying

depressing story. It’s also about a new neighbor moving in, learning something new like band flags, and making new friends. I did like this book, but I thought book one was better.

children's middlegrade graphic novel (semi-memoiresque growing up in the 70s). Too short! More, please!

Excellent graphic novel for middle grade and adults. Sunny has issues common to all pre-teens; problem siblings, problem with siblings and best friends, and getting comfortable with herself. The illustrations greatly enhance the narrative. A fast yet thoughtful read, with nostalgic value for those
