Oh, my goodness! Another picture book biography about someone I never heard of, but she created one of Disney's most iconic rides ...

Thanks to author and illustrator who created this bold book!!

This picture book tells the story of Mary Blair, a visionary artist who was one of the first females to work at Walt Disney Studios and was responsible for Disneyland's iconic "It's a Small World" ride. This delightful book focuses on Mary's lifelong love of bright, vibrant colors and how she

brought that to her artistic work. The text is straightforward but pleasingly poetic, even with a lack of rhymes. Meanwhile, the artwork is understandably bright -- brilliantly popping off the pages with a variety of hues and shades. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and so did my 7-year-old niece, who asked to hear it repeatedly and later retold the story to others.

This picture book biography is lacking in biography. It starts out interesting, but it takes so long to list various colors it deadens the rest of the story. The artwork is great, and the authors note at the end was way more informative than the pages of the book. I like this book, but it

could’ve been done better.
