Summary:
This book is about a girl named Addie. A new neighbor just moved in next to Addie. She was curious about the boy so she followed him on her bike and they ran into each other. After Addie came home in tears, her mom comforted her and explained the new boy, Max, was coming over for lunch.
Personal Reaction:
I love this book. It is another book my mom read to me when I was young. When I was about six, a family moved in the house next to us. They also had a boy and his name was Anthony. We became good friends and remained good friends until he moved to Florida.
Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. Read on the first day of class. Then tell the children it is important to be kind to people and you can never have too many friends. Tell everyone to walk around the classroom and make one new friend. Then they will write down their new friend's name and one thing about them.
2. Read during the first week of class. After we read the book we will sit in a circle and do a get-to-know-each other activity. We will go around the circle and take turns answering questions about ourselves. Questions like: What is your favorite color? What is your favorite food? And et cetera.
