"little house" with their mother and stepfather and the rest with their father, stepmother and step-siblings, including Kristy, in the "big house." In "Karen's Worst Day," the third in the Baby-Sitters Little Sister series, Karen wakes up to Saturday filled with ill-luck: she falls out of bed, her favorite TV show isn't on at its usual time, she get into a fight with her best friend, etc. And no matter what she does, she can't seem to catch a break.

It's simply style and layout make this book a good read for children making the transition from picture book and easy readers to full-on chapter books. What's more, they will easily identify with Karen's troubles, as she's a pretty typical second grader.
