Here, assembled for the first time between two covers, are all available records and geographical descriptions of Palestine in the Canaanite and Israelite periods. The Hebrew (Biblical and extra-Biblical), Egyptian, Assyrian, Babylonian and other sources are described and critically evaluated in the light of archaeology, and with a view to summarizing the vast amount of literature up to now scattered among numerous books and journals.
