Winner of the 2002 Christianity Today Book Award! You're One Step Away from the Adventure of Your Life. Deep within you lies the same faith and longing that sent Peter walking across the wind-swept Sea of Galilee toward Jesus. In what ways is the Lord telling you, as he did Peter, "Come"? John Ortberg invites you to consider the incredible potential that awaits you outside your comfort zone. Out on the risky waters of faith, Jesus is waiting to meet you in ways that will change you forever, deepening your character and your trust in God. The experience is terrifying. It's thrilling beyond belief. It's everything you'd expect of someone worthy to be called Lord. The choice is yours to know him as only a water-walker can, aligning yourself with God's purpose for your life in the process. There's just one requirement: If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat.
There's a man walking on the water
Come along with me
All I wanna see
is the Man walking on the water
To see the Sea walker
The blindman Healer
The leprous cleansing Man
He's the soul saver
The One who set me free
Take my hand and follow me
I betcha you'll love to sing this song again and again
after reading this book. Fun and wonderful read!
It's well-written with interesting anecdotes and clear Scriptural references. Re-reading it nearly ten years after the first time, I found it challenging and thought-provoking, yet accessible to anyone. Definitely recommended.

If the assignment I sense God is giving me is something that I can handle, I know it is probably not from God. The kind of assignments God gives in the bible are always God-sized.
Is there any challenge in your life right now that is large enough that you have no hope of doing it apart from God's help? If not, consider the possibility that you are seriously underchallanged.
We are not called just to work for God. We are called to work with God.
Work has become our new religion, where we worship and give our time.

Do you believe that what you pray in the Creed is true?...Then you believe more and better than I. - Martin Luther
How much faith do I need? Not a feeling of certainty. Just enough faith to take a step.
If you are willing to act as if a bridge will be there, the bridge will be there.
