Jesus the Stranger is based on sermons preached at the University of Nairobi to young African students, portraying Christ as a familiar friend as well as a merciful God. This new edition features a new and readable format and has been updated and revised to make its message plainer, more direct, and contemporary.In six sections, Donders follows the Gospel of Christ from its beginnings through Pentecost. In one way, we can never become completely comfortable with Jesus, for he summons us to leave our settled routines and to embrace life's insecurities, armed with the assurance that he accompanies us on our journey. But to the extent that we are not open to the challenge of Jesus's calling, we will always be strangers to our own true selves.
