My 3-yr-old son totally loves this. To me it seems like a pretty formal (but nicely illustrated) listing of different kinds of trains — from historic to modern with an emphasis on speed trains. But to my son there are TRAINS and TUNNELS, and he loves the semi-transparent pages.

This is a simple book that gives a general explanation of trains. It explains the different types of trains, the places that they travel, and the types of fuel that they use. For English lessons, teachers can have students do a comparison and contrast of the different types of trains. For math

lessons, teachers can use this as an introduction to telling time and explaining why it is important that trains run on time. For science lessons, teachers can discuss the different types of fuels that are used to power trains. Students can also learn about the different types of landforms that trains must travel through. This book has very few words on a page and has big, colorful pictures. There are also transparency pages in the book that change the pictures when they are flipped, which are really fun for young children. The organization is a little difficult to follow because the book randomly goes from one topic to the next, and it is hard to see how they always connect. Show Less
