Description

It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom. But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.

Stellar beginning, decent middle, bland ending. Note that the ending is not bad per se, it's just the kind you've seen a hundred times before, and it doesn't really deliver on the promise of the strong start of the film. That said, the cast is tremendous, the visuals spectacular, and it would

really be a springboard for a potentially wonderful sequel (assuming a more even script is provided), which makes it all the sadder that one doesn't seem to be happening.

Mostly bad, with some nice scenes of Tarzan's childhood among the apes. But everything else is stupid, including Samuel L. Jackson's typical behaviours. Tarzan miraculously keeps his pants, just like the Hulk.

Daft but entertaining.
