Fun read aloud book, with great expressions through the whole thing that kids will really enjoy.

A fun idea that's been explored more successully in other picture books.

This book is absolutely darling and would be a favorite for most kids I know! It's as if the alligator interrupts The Ugly Duckling story. The alligator attempts to start eating letters, words and sentences and eventually a whole page of the story. Readers are instructed to help put the alligator

to sleep, so the duckling can get back at the alligator, but that alligator isn't going to put up with that! This would be a fun read aloud to do with a small group of students.

I enjoyed the book “Open Very Carefully” by Nick Bromley and illustrated by Nicola O’Byrne. The illustrations in this book really create story whether it’s the crocodile eating the page of “The Ugly Ducking” or chewing his way out of the back the book they make you feel as if you are

part of the book. I thought story was made even more interesting because the narrator speaks directly to the reader which is a different approach than expected. I enjoyed the fact that the narrator asked us to rock the book to get the crocodile to sleep and asked us to try and shake the crocodile out of the book. I think the big idea of this book is to create an experience that is different than expected. I felt the author and illustrator did a great job of this.

This will be one of my favorite read alouds because of the suspense and interaction that will come from the audience. I think it could have been a bit longer, but for those times you need a quick read aloud, it will be perfect.

I have a weakness for naughty crocodiles, so I loved this one about a crocodile that sets the narrator off track.
