Description

Ronan Lynch is a dreamer. He can pull both curiosities and catastrophes out of his dreams and into his compromised reality. Jordan Hennessy is a thief. The closer she comes to the dream object she is after, the more inextricably she becomes tied to it. Carmen Farooq-Lane is a hunter. Her brother was a dreamer . . . and a killer. She has seen what dreaming can do to a person. And she has seen the damage that dreamers can do. But that is nothing compared to the destruction that is about to be unleashed.

Too weird for my taste. The Lynch brothers were my least favorite characters in the Raven Cycle; and a couple of years hasn't done them any favors. The new characters are even more fucked up. This world is ugly and brutal. Odd abrupt ending too.

Call Down the Hawk is the first book in the Dreamer Trilogy. I was drawn into the tale, as some characters are dreamers and seem to live out their dreams and some are dreamed. The dreams are so creepy and result in strange, almost real occurrences with killer crabs, laying down in the middle of a

highway as cars approach, discovering yourself somewhere you do not recall going, committing thievery, hearing words from your dreams that you are forbidden to speak, but hear from another dreamer. Byrde speaks to them within their dreams and they cannot wake up, but rather try to control what is happening within their dreams. Bryde's messages are almost poetic and are thought provoking. Will they ever wake? Will the dreamers do something they will forever regret?

As you turn page after page, the readers begins to doubt where written reality begins and dreams end, or is every page but another dream of the dreamers or life of the dreamed?
Awesome read! I will definitely continue the trilogy!

I devoured this book in two days. I could not get enough of it. Maggie is from what I can tell, the only author who can make every situation a slow burn feeling but not bore me to death with it. I love the way she explains what is going on, in small, slow, methodically thought out manners, it

creates this burning need to know more, and she does this flawlessly.

I went into the book already hyped, as Ronan was my favorite character from the Raven Cycle (I mean I loved everyone but Ronan just hit different) I was so excited to see what else could be done with the dreamer aspect of Ronan’s story and I was not displeased.

I loved the small connections to the events in the previous series. But what I loved most was the focus on the Lynch Brothers. During the Raven Cycle I had a mild distaste for Declan but by the end of this book, My heart was shattering into pieces for him. Matthew, precious, sweet, loveable Matthew, my heart hurts so much for him, I was not expecting what he learned about himself and even if I had, definitely not the manner of how. And Ronan, my sweet rough Ronan, this boy has been through so freaking much and still he puts himself through so much more. To watch as his world, that means everything to him possibly slip away from his grasp, was painful. My heart hurts so much for each of the Lynch brothers in different ways.

The introduction of the new characters took awhile to grow on me. Hennessy’s character initially confused the fudge out me, but once it came clear, it made it easier to understand her. I like Jordan more then Hennessy but I don’t hate Hennessy either, I hope there will be growth for her, the end gives me vibes there will be, but anything is possible.

Farooq-lane didn’t really standout to me, aside from being apart of the group that killed her dreamer brother, it’s an interesting dynamic. You have Declan who does what he can to protect his Dreamer brother, and then you have Farooq-Lane who took part in taking her dreamer brothers life. I’m not writing her off or hating her, just right now her chapters were the most boring of the book.

All in all, I loved this, I loved every inch and I can’t wait for more to come!

Story (5/5): I absolutely loved this! This is the story of Ronan and Declan, as well as some new Dreamers, hunters, and Dreams. I would recommend reading “The Raven Cycle” before this book to understand Ronan's full background, but I think this book would also stand alone okay without reading

that series. I can’t even begin to explain how amazing this story is, it’s a masterpiece. The pieces are woven together so well and the concept is so creative and interesting, I could not put it down and had to know what would happen next. There are so many magical mysteries throughout.

Characters (5/5): The characters are a huge driver for this story. We learn more about Ronan, his past, and his Dreams. I loved Jordan and her complicated creation and history. I also loved Carmen as she tried to navigate the waters of hunting these Dreamers. The characters, even the side ones, are stunning, incredibly deep and just amazing.

Setting (5/5): The description in here is beautiful and the scenes really come alive. Whether we are in the city of DC, at Ronan’s farm, or journeying through a dreamscape, all the settings are just as magical and mysterious. Steifvater has a way of submerging her readers into a setting that makes it feel completely real and alive.

Writing/Drawing Style (5/5): Stiefvater is an amazing writing and I have never read any other writer with a style quite like hers, her style is unique and all her own in every way. It’s also an incredibly beautiful and compelling writing style. I always feel like I have read something really secret and special when I finish one of her books.

My Summary (5/5): This was an amazing start to another new series by Stiefvater. I absolutely adore her unique writing style; it’s beautiful, creative, and a bit dreamy. This does piggy back off of The Raven Cycle, so I would recommend reading that series first. However, aside from Ronan, Declan, and Adam most of the characters are new. If you are a fan of The Raven Cycle or a fan of Stiefvater’s writing style in general I would highly recommend this book; I think it’s one of her best books yet!

I gotta come back to tell you how much I loved it but god I loved it.

So deep with so many moving parts, but they all come together in a magical way.

It was a little slower getting into this one for me, probably because although I love Ronan Lynch, I was missing all the rest of the gang from The Raven Boys. Falling for Hennessy's character took a little longer for me, mostly because the story spun out her background and motivations so slowly,

but now she's mine and I would die for her. Can't wait for my turn to come up on the holds list for the next book in the series!

How did Maggie get me to actually like Declan? Witchcraft probably.

Dreamers, the end of the world, and a secretive government force determined to stop them. Ronan Lynch makes another appearance with a new cast of characters-Hennessy and her “sisters,” and Carmen Farooq-Lane and her fellow Zed hunters known as Moderators. Is Ronan going to bring the end of the

world with his dreams? I am looking forward to the next installment.

The Lynch brothers live across the edges of dreams, which is not only dangerous in itself but puts them in the sights of those who believe they can save the world by killing the dreamers. The pacing is uninteresting and the whole is too long for the amount of character and inventiveness delivered.
Not promising for the first of a trilogy. And I dislike plots where the whole world is at stake.
