The sub-title should be noted carefully. For most persons' purposes, this would constitute a complete opera recording, and can certainly enjoyed extravagantly listened-to stright through. However, this piece, which the composer described as a "a musical fairy tale" has a considerable amount of

dialogue which is omitted here. While this won't make any difference to the vast number of listeners who don't understand the Hungarian language, a longish spoken passage with peppy violin obbligato is lost. Still, this recording is a delight: brilliant singing and playing, in recorded sound fully up to Hungaroton's customary high standard. Those who know this music only from the familiar concert Suite will be delighted to hear the Song-movement of the Suite actually sung ("Tiszen innen, Dunan tul").
