Feeling sad is just how it is sometimes. Nicely done.

A precocious girl, an overdramatic flamingo, and a gruff potato learn about the importance of emotions. I identify 1000% with the potato.

The unnamed girl, potato, and flamingo from I'm Bored are back again. This time, instead of a bored potato, we have a sad flamingo. The flamingo can't quite articulate why he/she is sad nor figure out what to do to feel better. The girl and the potato sympathize with his plight and offer some

suggestions about how they combat sadness.

This is a lovely book to use when talking about emotions and also about how to be a emphatic and caring friend. The only reason I don't rate it higher is that the previous title was so ridiculously fun and silly, whereas this one is mostly rather serious. (There are a few comic moments here and there though.) I feel like the change in tone despite using the same characters might be a bit of a letdown for those expecting another humor book.

Perfect Book. Perfect message. Perfect illustrations. Just Perfect. I love that the flimingo does not find his happy in the end, but instead learns it’s okay to be sad. That your friends are with you through happy times, and sad times. Love this BOOK!
