This book is about a little girl who takes her monkey to go see other types of animals. There is a wide variety of animals from penguins to bats. The little girl is so excited to see all the different animals but at the end of the day she is completly exhausted!

I remember the first time I went to
Show More
the zoo I was so terrified. I hid behind my dads leg for the majority of the trip. My dad finally convinced be to open my eyes. I couldnt do anything other then laugh. We were standing in front of the monkey cage and one of them were hanging upside down by their tail. How could I have been so afraid?

I would ask my class to bring socks to class so that we could make puppets that looked like their favorite animal. The children can come up with a little story about their favorite animal and present it to the class with their puppet. I would read this book during animal week.

Love the illustrations and stuffed monkey, maybe a little hard to follow, will have to ask questions to lead into the next page-possibly good if a connection can be made between the two.

This book is about a little girl and her stuffed monkey. They spend the whole day pretended that they see different animal, and in the end the girl is so tired from pretending that she fall asleep.

This book can be related to a lot of kids who are always pretending to be different animal. I have
Show More
seen this in the two daycares that I have worked.

Classroom extension:
1. The class and I will discuss the many different animals in a zoo, and then pretend we are these animals.
2. The class will use different magazines to cut out picture of different animals and we will make our on zoo from them.

This book is about a little girl and her monkey that go on an adventure to "see" all kinds of different animals. The girl imitates each animal that is coming up on the next page, so the children can guess which animal is coming up on the next page. This book would be a great book to read the day
Show More
before a field trip to the zoo to get the kids excited and to help them learn about the animals that may be seen at the zoo.

Emily Gravett tells the story about a little girl and her toy monkey who take a trip to the zoo. The story is kind of a shout along as readers can guess and shout what animals they think they will see next. With it's bouncy story line and fun pictures of animals, this is a book young readers will
Show More
enjoy.

One of my all time favorite books. I will cry when it wears out and I can't use it for story time anymore.

Cute book for little-uns--teaches animal knowledge about what different animals do. Could incorporate physical activity into storytime with this book.

I have read and enjoyed many Emily Gravett books it wasn't her best to me but this is a cute one for very young children. A little girl and her stuffed monkey go on a trip to the zoo where they see many different animals and at the end she is exhausted. It's a good tool to teach animals because
Show More
they imitate the animal on the next page, giving children a chance to guess what it is. Would recommend for very young children Pre-K-K.

I read a copy of this that had a Spanish translation. Which was cool, except that it had no rhyme or rhythm to it.

A contemporary realistic fiction that comes alive with a little girl actively engaged with her stuffed monkey, imitating the movement of ZOO animals. Big fun text in movement supported by joyful illustrations made of water colors and charcoal. The perfect book for accessing the prior knowledge,
Show More
excellent for predicting (sense her movements come before the actual animals), and why not questions and wonders of why certain animals move in certain ways, as an example. Very cute for young ones and for those active learners!

Spending my wife's birthday reading through a small pile of picture books. (2 of 5)

A gentle, lyrical, repetitive book meant to soothe a child toward bedtime. A bit dull for adults.

This book is meant for the reader to play a guessing game. What did the child and the monkey go to see? Use their body language to take a guess, then turn the page to see if you are correct.

A Read aloud book, with simple words. A book for toddlers. The visuals in the previous page give clues on the animal which will come up in the next visual. encourages the reader to enact and read aloud the characters
