Description
Supremely glossy representation in pictures of the rich and dramatic remains of ancient Mexico. The commentary is basic but sensible and divided into chapters on the history of pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, daily life, art and religion, and archaeological itineraries. This book is all about the images, however, and contains some colourful reconstructions of temple complexes - including a rather nice fold out one of Teotihuacan - striking photographs of masks, jewels, paintings and sculpture, and of course, the architecture and its spectacular backdrop.
