Manipulation Madness
Many children with developmental trauma in their histories are masters at manipulation, so much so that it can drive parents to their brink. While manipulation is a “normal” behavior that can be seen in almost any child, children with trauma develop an especially powerful and divisive way of using manipulation in the home that is unhealthy.
6 Going on 36
Is your child already incredibly street smart, knowing exactly how to read you and what to say to get a reaction out of you or other adults in his/her life? Sometimes it feels like even our youngest children are already adults - 6 years old going on 36 years old! Children develop a psuedo-maturity when they are forced to figure out how to get their needs met when they’ve lived through traumatic experiences where their needs weren’t considered the priority.
