Description

This is a recording of a live workshop. This workshop will provide participants with a basic understanding of the dynamics of child sexual abuse (including within family environments, i.e. intra-familial sexual abuse), utilizing a knowledge about sex offenders and the non-offending partner to help us understand the impact on children, young people, and their families. This use of "offender knowledge" is utilized to help practitioners and "carers" (foster/adoptive/guardianship/relative caregivers) look out for possible warning signs and to assist with investigation, assessment, intervention and the provision of "therapeutic care". It also considers the use of psycho-education/narrative approaches to working with children and young people affected by sexual abuse and how this can complement other therapeutic approaches.
