This Dutch book for children tells the story of little Dolf, living with foster parents who really love him (but what

happened to his parents? He has no idea...), and a bigger foster brother he looks up to. On the night of his seventh birthday, something weird and frightening happens to Dolfje: he turns into a white wolf, albeit with fluffy ears and a pair of glasses...
The language is such that an 8 year old will be able to read the book by him/herself, but it never gets simplistic. I can easily understand why this book and its sequels have won so many prizes. I'm already looking forward to the day my grandson will be reading fluently enough to enjoy this.
