This book has 5 good ideas and then repeats them endlessly, but 5 good ideas/perspectives on poverty and how middle class and poverty systems clash are worth having. I found it repetitive and a bit condescending by the end, but the early chapters are worth reading and thinking about. Her basic

premise, that education, welfare and all government services provided for the poor are done from a middle class perspective and thus are inherently alienating to the people who most need them, is a worthwhile one, and her solutions are workable, which is even more valuable.
