A delightful book for early readers, K to 1st grade. The simple rhyming text is written in 2 different colours of ink, for parent and child (or 2 kids) to read together, taking turns. Humourous illustrations by Michael Emberley add fun to the miniature dramas and dialogues. Kids at the right stage
Show More
of reading will want to read again and again. The sequel "You Read to Me... Very Short Fairy Tales to read together" is also a winner. This series has won several book awards.

“You Read to Me, I’ll Read to You” is consisted of very short stories to read together by Mary Ann Hoberman and illustrated by Michael Emberley. It is a bunch of little stories that require two people, one will read the words on the right of the page, the other will read to words on the left,
Show More
and the words in the middle are meant to be read together.

Okay, so this does not really work unless you have two people reading it. I thought, I could still read it and be interested in it by myself, I was so wrong! Now, if I had had a child reading it with me it would be a very cute book. I think this is a great book that allows the child to show off their reading skills. All children love to have their parents/teachers read to them but they also want to do some of the reading.

Extensions for this book are easy. Parents/teachers can have two children read it together or the teacher/parent can read it with the child. It teaches the child to take turns with other children or adults.

This book was given to me on my 22nd birthday from one of my Elementary Education, college buddies. It reminded her of the many projects we had done together and was something to use as started my own classroom. This books hold great memories for me!

This is a good book to read to students in 3rd to 5th grade. This book is great for teachers to use to model reading fluency.

This is a great book to share with students as a read-aloud or to pull emerging readers aside for some one-on-one time. The design is layed out so that each page or two has a theme/storyline. One person reads all the purple writing while the other reads the pink. Both readers say the blue writing

in the middle. Lots of repetition and rhyming.

This book was actually a book from my son's library collection. It is a wonderful book to read with a child. It helps motivate them to read independently. I would recommend this book to anyone who is learning to read.

The delightful picture book of stories for two voices draws children into reading as a fun, social activity. It felt like I enjoyed the experience just as much as the kids when I demonstrated with another teacher in front of a class in the library last week. The rhyming stories are charming and
Show More
sometimes silly. The accompanying illustrations provide matching whimsey. This is a book for kids and adult, both.

I loved this book of poems! I thought that the instructions in the begining were extremely cute and great for both readers. One person read the left side, one person read the right side, and both persons read when the words wer in the middle. It was so creative and a book where many people could
Show More
interact with one another. The pictures and colors aded even more!

I enjoyed this book. It had very cute poems that would be fun to read to younger kids. It would also be great to keep in the classroom as an easy beginning reading book so that they can get practice.

This book is a great example of poetry. The rhymes and rhythms tickle the tongue and make it fun to read outloud. Each word is placed where it is for a reason and has a purpose for being there. Each poem shares feelings with the reader or conveys a fun message.

A fun interactive book. This would be a great book to read with your child or for two friends to do together. A poetry book, filled with different stories.

Fun rhyming poems for you and someone to read, or read using different voices. The poems are really sweet and endearing. About many different types of animals, new friends, and different things. The water-color illustrations are really cute and make the short stories/poems really fun to read with

kids.

This is a very fun book that can be read by two different children. It is designed like a question/answer or statement/response poetry. I actually think smaller children will enjoy this book also becaue of the colorful illustrations.

This is a great book to use in a young literacy classroom. Choral reading is an effective way to build students' confidence with reading, and this is a fun book to use in order to initiate that kind of instruction. I gave it five stars because I loved it. It was fun and interesting, and I just
Show More
think it's, overall, a nifty idea for a book. It's interactive.

This book is a collection of short stories that can be read with two people. Each story contains two reading parts. They are on different topics such as snowmen, and puppies. Each reading part is only one or two sentences, so young readers will be able to participate.

Genre Critique: This is a
Show More
poetry book. Each poem contains short verses that are read by partners taking turns. There is also times for choral readings. Some of these poems rhyme. I don't think this book is a great example of poetry but the short stories are fun and valuable to young readers. I don't think these are great poems because there isn't a central message to them that will challenge a students perspective.

Media: ballpoint pen, watercolor, and dry pastel

Genre: Poetry

Critiques: This is a book of poetry as it uses word play and many literary elements to tell short stories of various themes. Furthermore, rhyming is used as each reader rhymes with their previous line. This helps for the listener to keep track of the plot as two perspectives are told
Show More
by each reader.
This book is full of many uses of style including hyperboles, metaphors, similies, mood, and others. One example of a mood shown is: "We don't agree on anything!" This shows a angry tone that tells the reader and listener that there is a disagreement and frustration.

Media: ballpoint pen, watercolor, and dry pastel on watercolor pape

"You Read to Me, I'll Read to You", is an interactive book (to me) filled with poems for children to look at. The pictures are vibrant and elaborative and the children can possibly read the poems along with the teacher. After every short poem the title of the book shows up flipped, "I'll read to
Show More
you, you'll read to me". Cute short poems for children to enjoy.

This is a great book for children to read along with an adult. It has silly poems that rhyme and will make you laugh. I have read these books with my own children and we have had a great time reading and laughing together.

This book is meant for two people to read. The words are grouped a few lines per reader. An adult can get a student interested in reading by using this book. The adult can read to the student and the student reads right back; it tells a story. It's like reading in a play, each reader has a role.
