This is a great supplement for a text book, put it in real world and day to day terms of what life would have been 100 years ago. Great images of old New York!

This book was a very fun read. I loved this book for its helpful table of contents and its historically accurate illustrations. At the beginning of the book there is a table of contents that is organized with questions that one might have about the time period. For example, if you wanted to find

out what kind of clothes people wore during that time, you could go to the table of contents and go to page that corresponds with "What did people wear?" Your question would be answered! Also, the illustrations were very historically accurate. Every page is covered with illustrations depicting aspects of life in 1890. On the page titled, "What did men do for work?" there is a drawing of an old fire engine that ran on steam along with the uniforms that people wore. The main idea of this book is how people lived in the 1809's. I would highly recommend this book for anyones classroom library.
