This zine was written and created by members of the support group In Your Shoes. At the time of production, In Your Shoes was part of the charity Mind Rotheram & Barnsley. Since then, In Your Shoes has moved location and is now part of the charity Humankind in Barnsley. In Your Shoes is a peer led support group for adults identifying as LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer or questioning) experiencing mental health difficulties, which looks to support people towards achieving their personal goals. It also focuses on participation and inclusion, supports independence, looks to boost confidence and so improves mental wellbeing. This zine is one of three community zines created during the summer of 2019 as part of #OurNorth, a season long programme of exhibitions, pop-up events and community action celebrating the culture and creativity of the North at The Civic, Barnsley. This zine project was the first in a series of annual projects, working with and giving a voice to teenagers, people identifying as BAME, LGBTQ and/or disabled, asylum seekers and mental health support groups.
