This story is about a small pig who lives on a farm and loves to play in the mud. The farmer's wife love to clean. She cleans the whole house then starts to clean up the farm. She cleans the pig pen and the pig! The pig gets angry and runs away. He finds other dirty places but they are already occupied by other animals. When he thinks he found mud in the city, he soon learns it is actually cement. The farmer and his wife find the pig stuck in the sidewalk and get him out. This is a good book for primary students to read. I liked it because the little pig looks everywhere to feel at home again but he learns that he should have stayed with the farmer and his wife all along.… (more)

This is a cute book for emergent readers. There are many pictures to support the words. This book is about a pig who loves his mud hole until his owner cleans it up. In spite of this, the pig runs away to find himself a new mud hole and ends up in a cement pit by mistake. The whole town gathers around the pig and watches the rescue team get him out of the cement. The farmers wife vows to never clean up the pig's mud hole again.… (more)

By the end of the story it rained and the pig went back to his farm where he played in his own mud puddle. This is a great book!… (more)

I loved this book! It was so cute and just a really fun read. I liked this book for a few reasons. I liked this book because of the illustrations. Something I found interesting about the illustrations was that they were all very similarly colored. It seemed as though the colors were the same, but the actions were different. I also liked the shared reading capability of this book just like Arnold Lobel's other book Mouse Soup. It has a consistently repeating phrase throughout the book "Then he sits down, and sinks down, into the good soft mud." The main message of this book is to appreciate what you have at home, I believe. Small Pig runs away when the farmer's wife cleans up his mud, and because of this, ends up in a city stuck in cement. I loved this book and would definitely keep it in my future classroom.… (more)

A cute story...One of my husband's favorites from his childhood....I wonder if this is why he likes junkyards so much?;)

The pig gets very angry and runs away. He runs to a variety of places, meeting different creatures while he is looking for his mud. The little pig goes back to the farm witht he farmer and his wife where the raid has brought new mud for him to play in.
