from the battle and sought their story of what happened that day. There was much reluctance and even resistance to this by the veterans who feared reprisals for their participation in the battle. Eventually, he collected the accounts of several, including Chief Sitting Bull, to provide some idea of what happened that day.
Given the dearth of available information about the battle, these interviews are a desperately needed resource for the historiography of the battle. This would serve as an excellent source book for a High School research paper.
