Purely an "issue" book, but well-done despite that. Chip is 15 and has a reasonably happy life with his single mother. His mom's an artist, and Chip feels quite responsible for the day-to-day mundane responsibilities of life- and he's good at them. Then his mom gets pregnant and all his order comes
Rylant's dazed, poetical style works very well here, and she does a great job of shifting viewpoints just when you think you have it all figured out. I liked it more than I expected to.
