This is a book full of different famous poems done by different authors. The common theme through all of the poems is the season of winter. It has fun short poems, that get its readers excited about the season. This book can be appreciated by all ages but it is mainly by the primary grades. I would

use this in the classroom for discussing winter and for poetry.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this poetry book for many reasons. First, Each poem was about winter and even though I hate winter, I found each poem to be comforting. For example, the poem, "Snow Toward Evening" was about how the sky turns grey and the days grow bitter and chill. This was comforting

because it's exactly how winter is. Second, I loved the illustrations. They were subtle yet perfect for the poems. For example, the poem, "Night" has a simple illustration of a peaceful night and it goes perfectly with the poem. I think the overall message of the book to inform the reader of wonderfully written poems about winter.

Great collection of poems about winter. I especially like the one titled "Oregon". It will be great for students to learn how to describe a season with feelings, visuals, and rhymes. There are long and short poems.

The editor's note alone is worth a star. Rogasky chose poems that *almost* make me look forward to winter. Keeping this for (hypothetical) grandchildren, because my son like's Hyman's art almost as much as I do.

Genre: Poetry
This book is a great collection of poems centered around the season of winter. The poems range from three lines to a whole page long. They are all different and unique and written by different people. They relate to visiting relatives, and the different animals/plants that a person

might see in the winter. I definitely think this would make a great resource to introduce poetry before Christmas.
