With the beautiful colored pencil pictures of Raymond Briggs to accompany, we follow James as he gets ready in the morning, creates his snowman then realizes he's come to life in the middle of the night. With simple text and serial wording it guides an early reader on the path to bigger stuff.

Keeping their interest by introducing them to the colorful world of Raymond Briggs' original silent animated film. A child can relate to James regular day during the middle of winter, but the wonder of introducing your snowman to the workings of life inside a home are funny enough to keep any child turning the pages.

In this wordless book I discovered a whole new way of reading illustrations. It's different yet it requires more imagination to better understand each scene. The colorful frames make it easy to follow along the storyline.

This is a wordless book that demonstrates how to build a snowman. It shows a little boy out on a cold winter day building a snowman.

This is a great book to introduce to young children to show how fun it is in playing in the snow.

A great classroom extension is to have the students make their own

snowmen using cotton balls as snow.

A wordless book about a boy who builds a snowman that comes to life in his dreams. He invites the snowman into his home and introduces him to things around the house like the stove, refrigerator, his skateboard, balloons, his dad's clothes and eating ice cubes. In turn, the snowman takes him on a

flight across the city skies. Wordless books help build narrative skills as children learn to tell stories in their own words.

James makes a snowman. Later that night he finds the snowman has come alive. He brings him in his house to show him around. Then the snowman takes him flying over the city. The next day James finds that the snowman has melted.

A good book for beginning readers. Very simple text.

I love this book! The pictures are beautiful and very creative. The Snowman is a picture book so it gives the reader an opportunity to use their imagination! I would bring this book out during the Christmas season so the kids can see the day in a life of a snowman! This story is about a snowman

that a little boy builds when it snows at his home. During the night, the snowman comes to life and him and the little boy become friends. The little boy learns how to keep the snowman "alive" the best he can. This book is great for children who can not read on a high level and would be a great book to use for the whole class. Because it is a picture book, it would make all the non readers feel confident that they can understand the whole class story. The Snowman is a good book to use when showing how to do things, like how to make a snowman. This is a great "How To" book!
