Animals, Animals is another great book that includes colorful illustrations. This book is quite lengthy and includes many poems relating to the various animals and their lives depicted within the pages.

This book has many different poems in it. This book would be a good book to read to k-1st grade to go over all the different animals.

This is a book filled with different poems and haikus about animals. It is a good book because you can read two or three different poems at a time, and continue going back to it. It is great for children to start thinking about animals. It is one of the few interesting poetry books for children

that I have found.

This book has poems by various people. They are all about animals. The illustrations are done in the typical Eric Carle style.

This is the first time that I have read this book. I enjoyed it.

This book would be great with an animal unit. You could also use this book with a unit on poems.

This is a collection of poems about animals by renowned poets such as Ogden Nash, Jack Prelutsky, Rudyard Kipling, and Mary Ann Hoberman. While the poetry is wonderful, the highlights of the collection are Carle's own illustrations. There's a poem for every child and animal lover in this anthology.

This is a book of animal poems from different poets, but is illustrated beautifully by Eric Carle. There are different types of poems found throughout the book. This book can be used for children to read and find an animal in which they would like to research to learn factual information about that

This book is a collection of poems. When I looked at the cover of this book I was expecting it to be a story. I was very shocked to see all the different poems throughout the book. The poems are from different authors, but they have one thing in common: they are all about animals. Eric Carle puts
Show More
his spin on the poems by adding his unique style of drawing to them. There are some big words that may be a bit tough for younger grades to understand. Overall I think that children would enjoy them because of the playful rhymes. This would be a great book to read to students when teaching about poetry.

This book is composed of poems from many different authors and are all very unique, they are all however about animals. Each poem has a painting by Eric of the animal it is about to go along with it. This book is very unique and fun, it could be used to encourage students' creativity and to have

students write their own poems.

Animals, Animals is a book full of short poems relating to a different animal on every page. When I picked this book up, I was expecting it to be similar to Eric Carle's other books like The Very Busy Spider and consist of a story like that one instead of the poems. Many different authors write the
Show More
poems written in the book, but Carle put them together. I thought Carle’s poem approach to discuss all different types of animals was creative.
I really enjoyed the amount of animals in this book. There are over 80 pages full of different animals. Some of the animals included were a flying squirrel and narwhal. I thought this was important especially for young children to read. In most ‘typical’ picture books, there are cats, dogs, fish, cows, etc. This book shows all different animals. Carle’s illustrations are beautiful. He portrays the animals in a perfect way without including too much detail to be distracting from the words. These illustrations accurately show the animals being discussed. Another thing I really enjoyed from this book was some of the rhyming words in the poems. For example in one poem “-potamus” is rhymed with “bottamus.” I really liked that because it allows for fun for the children reading the poems. It shows that you can be silly and enjoy reading. While the poems are super informative, they are also fun and silly so that people want to continue to read the book. The big idea or message in this book would be that all animals are different and have their own characteristics. It is important to take notice of all animals because they are all special in their own way. Overall, I thoroughly appreciated this book, even if I was originally expecting something different.

From leaping, flying fish to dancing butterflies, and camels that "trollop along," Eric Carle's brilliant and colorful collage designs bring to life animal poems from such diverse sources as Shakespeare, Lewis Carroll, Rudyard Kipling, Emily Dickinson, and Jack Prelutsky, as well as Bible verses,

Japanese haiku, American Indian poems and more. This is a great read-aloud book.
