Frank and Joe Hardy are called to Millwood, an art community, by their friend Chet's uncle so they can investigate a missing painting. Things get more interesting, though, as more art pieces go missing, opionated history buffs clash and someone lays traps to keep the boys from finding either the

paintings or the fabled treasure to which the paintings supposedly lead.

I've never read a Hardy Boys mystery [or Nancy Drew] before, but it is about what I expected. It was an easy read, with lots of intrigue and a fair amount of humour. Nothing astounding. Sorry for the lack of interest or insight.
