I'm hooked on this series of three books by Gordon Korman. In the first book, four students not known for their diving are chosen for a prestigious oceanographic internship. Interspersed with their story is the story of a 13-year-old sailor who drowned in the 1600s, whose treasure the interns find.

This book asks a lot more questions than it answers, making me want to check out the next book instead of do my homework!

When four kids find sunken treasure in the Carribean, the plot to get the treasure is on.

I chose this book for a read-aloud with my son because it is set in the Caribbean and involves SCUBA diving. I thought it would be perfect for us, as we heading out on a Caribbean dive trip.

But the book was not very engaging, with very lifeless characters. Worse, we felt cheated when we got to the

end and figured out that this is only the first part of a trilogy and can not stand on it's own. It is only a set up for the next two books. We are not going to bother with the next two books.

I love these adventure series by Korman, even though I don't have much interest in scuba myself (I'm claustrophobic and deep water is terrifying). I do love the ocean though, mostly from afar obviously, and enjoyed reading about the kids underwater exploring.
