I liked this this book for a couple of reasons. I liked the illustrations that were used in this book because it showed the eye really big and then the animal that it went with a little smaller next to it. I also liked the plot in this book it told me things about the eyes that I had no idea about,

like biggest eye and who has the most eyes and it also told a story with it as well. I really found the blue mountain swallowtail butterfly part interesting because I found out that they can see things that humans can't see. Another thing that I liked were the headings used in the books because for new and young readers, that can be very helpful. I believe that the big idea of this book was just to show the evolution of the eye and to give humans animal eye facts.

Kids would love learning about how different animals see. It would be fun to choose an animal each week and learn all about them, starting with the eyes!

Learning about four different kinds of eyes and how they have evolved over time. The illustrations are absolutely stunning an up-close full page illustration of a red crowned amazon parrot. So many different kinds of animals eyes provide children with interesting animal facts about the creatures.

This was a beautiful illustrated picture book. I enjoyed the idea of thinking about how animals see the world based on what their eyes look like.

I gave this book 5 stars because it was genius of Steve Jenkins to think of this type of book. It gives background about animal's eyes and how they see the world. It also talks about how animal's eyes have evolved over time. I don't know where I would use this book in my classroom, but I will think

of something.

Eye to Eye: How Animal See the World is an amazing example of how illustrations can be used to teach students about difficult topics, such as evolution, biology, and science. In this book, Jenkins begins by introducing his readers to the evolution of the eye and leads into the discussion of the
Show More
four different types of eyes. After the introduction, the book offers large, close up illustrations of eyes from different creatures. Jenkins does a wonderful job of providing a thumb nail picture of the animal the eye belongs to, as well as interesting facts about that creature’s vision. Students learn important lessons about how eyes have adapted over time to fit the needs of different creatures, as well as the structure of different eyes and how they work. The glossary at the end of the book really shows the time, research, and validity of Eye to Eye and how it could be used as a credible scientific source in the classroom.

This is a very informative book about the eyes of certain animals and how they view the world. I thought the illustrations were great and very realistic with some of them. This is a great science teaching aid for primary grades.

Nonfiction---would love to make available as a resource during animals unit. Also would be great to used while talking about 'facts', and how a fact is something you know.

This unique book focuses on an aspect of every animal that we often take for granted, their sight. This story breaks down the complex study of eyes into kid friendly terms and images. Each of the type of eyes are explained, and examples are given of all the different eyes and how they are used.

This book explores the world through different animals perspectives which is an incredibly fun and adventurous way for a child or even adult to explore things. I would love to incorporate this book into a lesson with younger students and think it would be fun to have them write a little story about

how they would see the world if they were a certain animal.

This book includes loads of interesting information about types of eyes and how animals use them. I learned quite a bit from reading this book. I was especially shocked to find out that mantis shrimp have eyes considered the "most highly developed in the animal kingdom," due to the amount of colors
Show More
they are able to see. I think children would find the facts in this book just as interesting as I did. They would also enjoy the Caldecott Honor illustrations that focus in on the eyes of the animals.

This book is all about different kinds of eyes that animals have. It is very informational and has really cool pictures of different animals eyes. I would use it as an information text if I was going to talk about how different animals' eyes work. It could be part of learning the anatomy of animals.

I enjoyed this book - and learned a lot! Although I knew that different animals had different eyes, I never really thought to learn about it. This book changed that. I liked the informational illustrations. I can see this being useful in the classroom, mostly as an free read book that students can

choose on their own. The language is appropriate for the earlier reader.
