This was one of the first books we read to our babies when they were just a few months old, and we still have it memorized. Our trio loved it so much, the corners are well chewed and mended with tape. A funny family favourite, highly recommended for toddlers and preschoolers.

"No, no!" you say, "that isn't right! The pigs say oink all day and night." My toddler loves that part and shakes his head and tells me no, no!

Great children's book that goes through animals and the sounds that they make. Great for little ones.

This was one of the first books we read regularly. It is simple and easy to read, and my babies really enjoyed the sounds before they were interested in the pictures. We like a lot of the Boynton books and this one is no exception!

Reaction: Moo, baa, la la la! has become one of my favourite books to read to my young children. Babies love to imitate the sounds of animals. Boynton’s happy, cartoon-like animal illustrations coupled with silly, age appropriate humour make reading this book such a pleasure-over and over again!

This book started out great for a younger child. My 20 month old toddler thought that the simple sentences and sounds were great and was mimicking the sounds quickly. However, I felt like halfway through the book, there was a serious shift to an older audience, and my son lost total interest in the
Show More
book at that point. If the intended audience had remained the same throughout the book, I think it would have been an awesome book. As it stands, however, I think the shift was too much, and it weakened the book.

This is one of those "what do farm animals say" books, except that some of the animals are a bit... weird (rhinoceroses? Singing pigs?), so Hilarity Ensues.

This is, like many of Boynton's works, a very short book, perfect for babies and for toddlers with a low attention span. Unfortunately, the
Show More
short length means that your kid will more-or-less outgrow it by pre-k (except as an occasional filler), but that's the price of having a book your baby will sit through.

A book about the silliness of animal sounds. The rhyming is simple and fun. The animal sounds are a good learning tool for preschool children or younger. The pictures are simple cartoon drawings of animals for basic animal association. If my resources were limited, I would not include this book in
Show More
my collection, because it is just too silly.

This has to be one of my sons favorite books. He makes me read it to him a minimum of 5 times a day. It also happens to be short enough to keep his attention all the way to the end. The only thing i feel may be bad is that i have all the words memorized and i find myself reciting them everywhere.
other then that it a really cute book.

This is a fun, silly book for young readers to read. Although, I feel this qualifies as a picture book the limited words that are included in this book are sounds that animals make. This is an entertaining book that my neice really enjoyed reading with me.

This is another entertaining children's book from Boynton. Here she relays the different sounds animals on the farm make.

A silly book, but plenty of fun to read to a child. Children love to mimic the animal sounds. This is currently Christians favorite book, and I enjoy reading it to him.

This is a wonderful book for toddlers. They love the pictures and saying the animal sounds with the reader. Sandra has a wonderful sense of humor in all her books. She manages to deliver a fun book without too many words so toddlers can sit through the whole book.

We love this book in our house. Boynton is the BEST.

I like Boynton's work - the illustrations are cute, the words singable, and the whole package makes it easy to amuse a baby. This one is full of animal noises.

When a person writes books that all feature animals as main characters, it's inevitable that one of those books will be about animal sounds. Fortunately, Boynton is in fine form in this offering, with a simple text that still manages to incorporate silly humor and fun reader involvement. The text
Show More
is simpler than most of her other stories, which makes it a good choice for younger readers, but it still rolls readily off the tongue. I love hearing my daughter imitate the three dancing pigs that say la la la - I wish I could catch the sound her voice in my writing, it's adorable. This is a great book for labeling animals and identifying sounds. Even though it doesn't offer a wide selection of beasties, they are accompanied by cute illustrations and a fun text that child and parent will enjoy.

This picture book is a funny illustration of the sounds we hear from different animals with a humorous twist on one page of what we would not hear from that particular animal. This book is a great book to be shared and is enjoyed by preschool children.
I loved to hear my oldest son read this book
Show More
when he was three. It was the first time I heard inflection in his voice when reciting the book to us as he turned the pages and we loved to hear his interpretation of each of the sounds the animals made along with laughing at the singing pigs.
I would use this book while setting up a thematic unit on Animals. I would also play a game with the children where I would say the animal and they would have to recite back to me the sound that the book illustrated for each animal.

This cute story teaches animal sounds and allows for the reader to spot incorrect sounds (& tell the correct sound!), especially when the animals say la la la! So much cuteness in one book!

A simple animal sound story.

Just the right dose of silliness for young children or big children needing a pick-me-up. Almost as good as Alien Opposites.

My son received Moo, Baa, La La La! as a Hannukah gift two years ago. It is a cute non-sense book that takes the typical animal themed board book and turns it on end. It starts out in a straight forward manner with cows saying moo and sheep saying baa, but then the pigs aren't saying oink. Instead,
Show More
they are singing "La la la!"

After the initial gag that explains the title, the book wanders on to more exotic animals and what they might say. These last few pages lack the rhytmn and humor of the first half, which is a shame for such a short book.

This is a fiction, rhyming concept book focused on animals and animal noises/sounds.

Very cute!

A shorter Boynton book. Fun. Silly.
LibraryThing member SqueakyChu
What a cute book! This would be a wonderful book to share with a toddler because of its simplicity, its humor ("three singing pigs say La La La!"), and its adorable illustrations. Young children love to learn and imitate animal sounds so this would be a fun book for any parent or other child
Show More
caregiver to read to and discuss with a favorite young child.
