The mission of the parish library is to provide materials to help parishioners grow in the knowledge of God, increase their understanding of the Catholic faith and strengthen their spiritual lives.
Fill out this short Google Form to request a patron account. Name and email address are the only personal data collected.
Checkout and Loan PeriodMaterials may be checked out online through a LibraryCat patron account or via the paper form in the library. The loan period is 30 days (one month), with renewals available. A reminder about an upcoming due date will be automatically generated three days before the date for materials checked out through LibraryCat.
Item AvailabilityBecause items may be checked out via the paper form, the status displayed in the online catalog may be inaccurate (i.e., a book listed as “Available” may not be on the shelf). The librarian will work to keep the catalog updated with items signed out manually, but a delay is inevitable. Also, checking out an item online does not place a hold on that item; a person who tries to “reserve” an item by checking it out online while away from the Sacred Heart campus could lose out to someone standing in the library at the same moment.
PatronageThe parish library is under the patronage of St. John Neumann, Bishop of Philadelphia.
"I had acquired from my father, who was a great lover of books, a decided passion for reading. As a result the time that others spent in sports or bird catching I spent in reading all the books I could get hold of. This is the reason why my mother often called me the little Bookworm." (The Autobiography of St. John Neumann, pg. 17, library call number BIO NEU NEU 1977)
"My greatest temptation is to procure beautiful books." (Ibid., pg. 89)
