to provide electricity and thermal energy to localized users such as Government and institutional facilities, apartment houses, shopping centers, and industrial and commercial plants, buildings, and complexes. The overall purpose of these energy systems is to demonstrate the high potential that solar energy offers for total energy systems, to develop a solar-oriented technology compatible with the high temperature demands of electric power conversion via thermodynamic cycles, and to provide the stimulus required so that private industry will aggressively participate, both as manufacturers and users.
