concentrated on a number of proof-of-concept experiments which demonstrated the technical feasibility of utilizing direct solar radiation to produce fuels and chemicals. In addition, a number of studies were conducted, focusing both on near- to-midterm technology for early commercial demonstration by the fuel and chemical industry, and on far-term applications using very high temperatures and direct solar flux.
