ABSTRACT:
The Parabolic Dish Test Site (POTS), located at the JPL Edwards Test Station on Edwards Air Force Base in California, was established in 1978 for the U.S. Department of Energy for testing point-focusing solar concentrator systems operating at temperatures approaching 1650°c (3000°F).

Among tests run were evaluation and performance characterization of parabolic dish concentrators, receivers, power conversion units, and solar/fossil-fuel hybrid systems. The POTS was fully operational until its closure in June 1984. This report presents the evolution of the test program, a chronological listing of the experiments run, and data summaries for most of the tests conducted. Show Less
