ABSTRACT:
An approach to modeling for digital computer simulation of the five subsystems comprising the DOE's 10 MW Solar Thermal Pilot Plant to be located at Barstow, California, is discussed. Also presented are initial results of a simulation of the plant performance in response to the rapid

passage of an ideal, short duration cloud directly over the site. Results indicate that the fundamental time constants of the Receiver (solar boiler), and likely controller response of that subsystem, will result in tightly controlled steam conditions. This simulation was developed under contract to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
