included. Liquid sodium systems are well defined technically, and code certified materials exist. Large components for power plant applications have been developed and tested. Molten nitrate salt systems, while used frequently in process industries, do not have an extensive user history at typical power plant steam temperatures. Significant development and testing will be required to achieve a materials data base comparable to that for water-steam and sodium technologies. At present, no unsolvable materials issues are apparent, however a wide variety of question need to be resolved before design can be committed to a power plant. Show Less
