ABSTRACT:
The objective of the Phase II Alternate Central Receiver program was to demonstrate the feasibility of the molten salt central receiver power system by conducting a series of experiments and using the results to update the commercial-scale design developed during Phase I of the program.

The experiments were directed at two levels of inquiry: the systems-level testing of a 5 MWth molten salt receiver---hereafter referred to as the receiver SRE; and the investigation of molten salt chemistry and the compatibility of selected materials with molten salt.
