enhanced in areas of greater solar resources. Such solar thermal systems employing dishes can, with prudent design and collector configuration, now allow the realization of systems which have attractive economics, the more so if the reject or waste heat from the system is employed usefully in co-generation applications, for example for water desalination. The present Prefeasibility Study aims to identify costs realistically for Whyalla and to determine the benefits of employing reject or waste heat from the station to produce desalinated sea water, employing available data.
