ABSTRACT:
Olympic Engineering Corporation, in a joint venture with Rocket Research Company and the Australian National University, proposes to conduct a feasibility study of a solar-ammonia electrical power generation system. The proposed system uses a reversible chemical reaction employing ammonia

for energy storage and transport. The purpose of the proposed project is to develop and demonstrate the use of solar thermal power systems. To accomplish this objective, a solar power system with distributed collectors is proposed using a reversible chemical reaction for energy storage and power generation. In the proposed system, the working fluid ammonia (NH3) is broken down into its constituents, nitrogen (N2) and hydrogen (H2) using a point focusing solar collector. The recombination of nitrogen and hydrogen will yield, at a later time, the energy of combination.
