West Germany and King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) for Saudi Arabia. The Design and construction was led by Schlaich and Partner, Stuttgart who developed the novel 17m diameter membrane concentrator and who were responsible for the system design and integration incorporating a control system by MBB, and the 50 kW Stirling engine generator units by USAB of Malmo, Sweden. Construction ended in spring 1986 and a program of operation and evaluation was begun under the leadership of KACST with participation by DFVLR and Schlaich and Partner.
