During the American Civil War, three men seek hidden loot. With greed as their sole motivation, they overcome anything that gets in their way--including each other. Very violent and drawn out western.

The best spaghetti western of all time and Eli Wallach is the best Mexican bandit of all time. See Wallach in that role also in The Magnificent Seven.

A rating represents a subjective evaluation. On Amazon/Shelfari, one star means hate, two dislike, three, liked, four really liked, five love. I mention this because I honestly can understand why some name this as one of the Top 100 films ever made--all the production qualities are there--I just,

personally, don't like it. Too violent, too repellant, too cynical. (And too long--two and a half hours and not one word is spoken for the first ten minutes. I'm going to try A Fistful of Dollars and Unforgiven, but I suspect the Westerns Eastwood made--particularly with Sergio Leone--are just too dark for my tastes.

Three outlaws are after buried Confederate gold.

The final showdown is my favorite scene in any movie. If it doesn't give you goosebumps, you need to take a long, hard look at yourself.
