If you've ever actually studied pirates, like me, you will find that this book is wildly inaccurate. The facts are mixed up.
Thought this is a really cool book and I myself do enjoy writing in the code that is hidden in the book, it is not accurate, and won't really teach you anything about pirates.

This was the first 'ology' book I bought - it was selling cheapish [comparatively] at Exclusive and I snapped it up. The book is perfect for young minds, full of imagination and interesting pictures. Although it has been tagged here as non-fiction, it is I suppose faction, where a lot of facts are

hung around an adventure to make everything more palatable and exciting.

Pirateology is not the book of choice as a reference work but it is a wonderfull way to learn a little bit about those Eighteenth Century Freebooters and Privateers - especially in an age in which impression are formed either by Disney or by the news headlines.
