This is a darling book about babies who are born in very different times and places; however, they each have fingers and toes. It's written in rhyme which could be used to teach little children to hear the rhymes in stories/poems.

We had this book in my classroom ful of toddlers when they were really interested in babies. We discussed what babies have in common and what they may have different. Summplementing this book with books on babies from different countries was useful too.

A great picture book with a nice story. The pictures show how babies are different all over the world but the story always comes back to the "ten little fingers and ten little toes" all babies share. The illustrations of the babies are cute and the babies are all smiles. It would be a fun book to

share with a toddler...I shared it and a couple other books with my fourth-graders as we discussed how we are all same but different.

This is such a cute story that younger readers would enjoy so much. The rhyming and repeating text makes you want to just read the book aloud to someone. This is a great story to show the similarities and differences between all people.

A cute book about babies born in different cultures and different places but with the same commonality of ten fingers and ten toes.

A cutely illustrated book that shows its readers that all babies, no matter where they come from, who raises them, or what their circumstances, are all the same in some way. All the beautiful babies in this rhyming book have ten fingers and ten toes. What a joy!

Babies are born all over the world, under all different circumstances, with all different talents and challenges...but they all have one thing in common: they each have ten little fingers and ten little toes. This book goes through pairs of very different babies, who still each have ten little

fingers and ten little toes, until there is a whole line of diverse babies at the end of the book. At the end, the narrator presents her baby, who also has ten little fingers, ten little toes, and who gets three little kisses on the nose!

Simple, yet effective! This piece send out a very grand message to younger readers: babies around the world all have "ten little fingers and ten little toes," or to the point, are similar.
For this piece, I enjoyed the text more so than the illustrations, but am certain others might disagree.

Absolutely perfect for toddler storytimes, kids will love looking at these adorable pictures of babies. I also love the variety of skintones, dress, and settings for all the babies! A great show of inclusiveness.

I also really love the depictions of the chubby little fingers and toes. And the babies

are all smiling, hugging, laughing - very cute.

It is really cute with just the right amount of saccharine-ness and perfect rhyming text; this all combines for a great read aloud!

Love Mem Fox. She gets it. This is an adorable story telling that no matter where you come from you have ten fingers and ten toes. We are all the same. It has a lyrical rhyme to the text. The reader can easily interact with their audience by counting and kissing fingers and toes!

Rhyming text compares babies who, although born in different places and in different circumstances, each have ten little fingers and ten little toes. Even though words were repeated it was not boring at all. With the predictable words a child could repeat along with you and feel part of the story.

I reminded me of books I read to my daughter when she was younger such as I Went Walking and she would then repeat the words along with me. The illustrations were fantastic. The pictures were cleverly done to help highlight toes and fingers but not in an obvious way. The message was also subtle about how we are all alike.

This book tells about babies who are born in many different places and in many different situations all around the world. The text and illustrations show small children of many different races, but the book focuses on the refrain that all babies have ten little fingers and ten little toes. Then at

the end of the book the last baby is the child of the narrator and she says just like any baby it has ten fingers and ten toes, but this baby has three little kisses on its nose. This would be a book that would be good for kindergarten children to and for use in a discussion about diversity.

A story of babies being born all around the world but all having one thing in common. Every baby no matter where it is born has ten little fingers and ten little toes. This is great to read to show no matter what culture we may be we will always have things in common with one another.

The text of this book is very simple, but the illustrations make it a wonderful book. I love the children's facial expressions from page to page.

On this book, I see the strengths of illustration is simple the art is fun with calm color but not a kind for toddler that is the weakness because there was a big word I bet that toddler age will not understand "eiderdown" I think if change wrapped in a "blanket" is much better.

Book about kids from different cultures, and how they all have 10 fingers and 10 toes. Great about how we're different, but alike. Also good early grade 1 math lesson about counting.

This book is great for early readers. It's predictability and repetative nature makes it great for a participatory class read-aloud.

Great book in that I never thought to use babies as how to describe differences and similarities. Also, it seems like it would really resonate with students who can see that they all also have 10 fingers and toes. Classroom use: Could be used as a lesson about difference, or as a lesson about

A sweet counting book, Ten little Finger and Ten Little Toes is filled with sweet moments and cute rhymes! Perfect for younger children, this book encourages empathy while also counting fingers, toes, and babies! It is a cute book that children will enjoy!

No matter where you are from, we all have something in common. This book is wonderful for young children, but it can also lead to deeper discussions with older children.
LibraryThing member missamellon
Helen Oxenbury's classically cute babies compliment Mem Fox's text about how children all over the world are a little bit different, but mostly the same. It's hard not to like.
LibraryThing member coresonk
A lovely book with the fabulous illustrations of Mem Fox. Each baby is so different and has it's own personality. It's great! What a wonderful way to teach children about diversity and unity all at once. No mater what we look like or where we come from, we all have somethining common.
