In this story there is nothing better than a teddy bear and imagination to get you through a storm. Beary the bear and a young boy begin their adventure with an alert that someone is calling on them for help. During the story, the boy and his bear cross a stormy lake to help frightened animals find
I love to read this story to my younger family members because they hate storms! I can relate to this story because one night my 3 cousins got terrified of the thunder and lightening that they got in bed with me. A four year old, six year old, and eight year old plus me in a twin bed wasn’t fun. Therefore we went into the living room and made a fort. While using flashlights we rescued all the (stuffed) animals outside of the fort and put them under with us to stay dry and have a good nights sleep.
One classroom extension idea is to create a storm! Have children clap and stomp and pat there knees to create a storm and talk about the sounds. Another idea is to make a chart of who is afraid of the dark and what they do when it storms.
