Staying home from school isn't always fun. First Henry gets sick and is taken care of but Mudge stays by his side. When Henry gets to feeling better, Mudge catches a cold. Henry takes him to the vet to see what is wrong and he is given some medicine and is told to rest. Henry is right by Mudge's

side until his sick days are over. Two great friends taking care of one another.

This is a great little book about Henry and his dog, Mudge. They do everything together, even when Henry gets sick. However, once Henry is feeling better he discovers that Mudge is sick!
What I like about this book: it is a great starter chapter book for both boys and girls and it tells about taking

care of a pet when it gets sick.
I would recommend this book for my library (medium public library).

This is a cute story about a little boy who always gives his food to his dog when he's sick. That is, until one when his dog becomes sick and the boy finds himself taking him to the vet and then acting as a caretaker. This is a great story to show the bond between a pet and their owner. The book is

a great example of a simple chapter book perfect for different aged readers depending on the skill level. The illustrations are detailed and all the children love to look at them!

I have a lot of respect for Henry's mom. In some ways I want to be her, with a big porch & yard & trees, and long dresses and bare feet - but I don't want a huge slobbery dog, thank you.
