Description

Every year on the first day of December, Christopher Byrne traveled from his farm in Nova Scotia to sell his Christmas trees on the streets of Manhattan. But this year there'd be no cheer for the widower and his twelve-year-old daughter, Bridget. For New York City had taken Christy's only son, headstrong sixteen-year-old Danny, who'd run off without a trace. Librarian Catherine Tierney used to love the holidays: the lights, the carols, the nip in the air. But after her husband's death on Christmas Eve three years ago, the festivities seemed to start too early and last too long. Just before he died, Brian told his wife that he'd never leave her, that every Christmas he'd send Catherine a sign. On the quaint Chelsea street where she lives, Catherine will meet the tree seller from Nova Scotia. Both figured the world had forgotten the true meaning of Christmas. But they hadn't counted on finding each other, on fate, on second chances ... and on a holiday gift of new love and new hope to last a lifetime.… (more)

A great book for the Christmas season. This book shows there's hope for romance after a loved one is gone.

I must be growing out of Luanne Rice's books. I found this one to be the same type of boring plot.

I picked this book for my book group and I thought it would be nice to read a christmas story that was not long in length. I was my first book that I have by the author so I can not compare it to her other ones. Christopher Byrne and his two children traveled from their tree farm in Cape Breton ,

Nova Scotia to NYC to sell Christmas trees in the beginning of December. The year before Mr. Byrne's teenage son danny runs away without any word. Un beknown to him Lizzie(owns a shop near where mr. byrne sells his trees) and her friend Catherine how where he is/have seen him. The story really is about a father searching for and finding his son while Catherine comes to a realization that she must finally let go of her husband brian who died three years early and how Mr. Byrne and Catherine come to find each other.

A very emotional holiday story. It was light on romance but the strong feelings and tears it invoked more that compensated. Shortly after I started I realized I saw this movie but the book is so much richer. Tree farmer Christy from Nova Scotia brought his trees to New York and tries to sell one to

This was a tv movie that I really enjoyed, so I went looking for the book. The details are a little different, but the book is still enjoyable and a nice holiday read.
