Description
" A heartwarming story that celebrates how life-changing friendships can be found in all seasons of life. The sprawling lake home Lynn Lundberg built with her husband has been an epicenter of joyful family life, from summer holidays spent around the water, to cookies baked in the kitchen with grandchildren in the fall. But since her husband's sudden passing two years ago, Lynn has been lost in the grief and solitude she feels without him at home. She doesn't want to sell the big family place, but she can't exist there on her own much longer. After hearing of a new way of living--where single women share responsibilities as housemates--Lynn thinks she's found the answer to her prayers. Soon she meets two ladies with whom she could begin this journey. Angela Bishop, a successful real estate agent accustomed to the finer things in life, has just been jilted by her husband of twenty-five-years. Judith Rutherford, who has devoted her adulthood to caring for her ailing father, must leave the only home she's known now that he has passed. These three women seek a place to grieve, to laugh, and to be renewed. But coming from such differing circumstances, will the new challenges they face undo their plans? Or will they begin a friendship to see them through the years to come in this SOMEDAY HOME? "--… (more)

Angela Bishop is celebrating her twenty-fifth wedding anniversary with her husband, Jack. Angela has worked hard to be the type of woman her husband wants on his arm (thin, well dressed, nails and hair done, and a successful job). After eating their anniversary dinner at a very expensive restaurant, her husband tells her that he filed for divorce that morning. Angela is stunned. She did not see this coming (all the signs were there though). Angela is fifty-one and does not know what she is going to do now.
Judith Rutherford is forty-seven years old. She has been taking care of her parents for over twenty years. Her parents always promised her that she would be taken care of when they passed away. Her mother died five years previously and her father just passed away. Judith has found out that the family home and furnishing have been left in a trust to turn the property into a living history museum (of what life was like in the early 1900’s). Judith received nothing. She can, though, stay on as caretaker of the museum (gee, isn’t that just swell of them). Judith has a small inheritance that she received from a grandmother and any furnishing in the house that she purchased (how generous of them). Judith’s cousin, Melody tells Judith to make her dreams come true. What has Judith dreamed of doing? What does she want to do now that she is free?
Lynn meets Judith at a quilting expo (where there are hundreds of people). Lynn feels that Judith and her met for a reason and suggests that Judith come check out the house. Lynn’s son, Tom and Angela’s son, Charlie are old friends. When Charlie hears about the shared housing, he mentions it to his mother. The two women move into the house and they start their new lives. Lynn is going to have some big adjustments. She is going to have to learn to not micromanage Judith and Angela (or mother them). Lynn tells them that this is all of their home and she is going to come to regret those words (for a little while) especially when Judith buys a big chicken house (and then sets out to find some chickens). Judith enrolls in the university and loves her classes (except pre-calculus where she needs a little extra help). Judith always wanted to be an anthropologist. Angela has to decide what she wants to do. Real estate is not something she really enjoys. Her fondest memories of working the school library when her children where younger. Angela volunteers at the local library and enjoys it. Can it lead to a full-time job? Can three women who will all be going through menopause (at some point) live together happily?
Someday Home is a beautifully crafted story. It is nice that someone has written a story about women in the 40’s and early 50’s getting a second chance at life. I give Someday Home 5 out of 5 stars. The story has relatable characters, a beautiful setting, dogs, a cat, chickens, family, and laughter. I liked how Ms. Snelling handled Lynn and her menopause. As someone going through menopause, I know how difficult and frustrating it is (hot flashes, short temper, memory issues, night sweats). Someday Home is an incredible book by an amazing writer.
I received a complimentary copy of Someday Home from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The review and opinions expressed are my own.
The story deals with each of these ladies journey to this very new way of life for all, beginning with the homeowner.
The next person is Angela Bishop, devastated from being jilted by her husband of twenty-five years. Can she become Angela again, and not her husband’s Stepford Wife?
These injured souls are now entering the unknown and you have to wonder if three women can live together without one of them wanting to run the show? Come along for tears, and laughter, and some unforgettable events. Once you start you will not be able to put it down, I wanted to move in with them.
I received this book through the publisher Hatchette and was not required to give a positive review.

My rating is 5 stars out of 5.
One of the best characteristics about Lauraine Snelling’s books is that each one is an adventure of the heart for the reader! What the author presents is usually a heart-touching
Then there is Judith who is an only child, and whose father frankly was a mean man. Now Judith must leave her home and begin to find her way in life without being kept at her father’s beck and call. Last, but not least there is Angela who celebrates her 25th anniversary with her husband who then drops the bomb that he has filed for divorce. All three are broken, have issues of the heart and desires too. All three wonder just what God has in store for them when a Bassett hound shows up needing care. They learn to meld together as sisters and as friends.
I loved the scenery described in the book, which includes a lake. All three ladies enjoy quiet nights listening to crickets on the deck and just chatting or being quiet. When rough waters come, the girls learn they either draw near to God and each other or they continue to live alone. Sometimes I chuckled at certain instances in the story and other times I felt like calling a character a jerk! All in all though Lauraine’s novel encourages us to walk each day with our hand in God’s and that friendship is to be treasured.
Later this year Lauraine’s 4th book in the Song of Blessing series will be released and I look forward to reading it as I have read the other books in the series. Books are a great way to enjoy time relaxing and even more fun when shared with a friend. So visit a store, pick up Someday Home and settle back to enjoy the tale.

Thanks to her fathers will after his death, the Rutherford House will become a living historical museum that Judith can have the privilege of working at, but will never calling it home again. As the pages of Someday Home continues, these three woman find the happiness in their life after unforeseen circumstances. Finding the healing through the unforgettable friendship that has been created in the farmhouse on the lake.
Lynn Lundberg is a widow whose busy days keep
Although he has been gone for almost two years, Lynn is still mourning her husband's unexpected death. Although her days are a mix of helping run the family owned business and taking care of her grandchildren, she is struggling with a resurgence of grief and sudden anger at her loss. Praying for a way to ease her sorrow, shared housing sounds like the perfect answer to help herself and others in need.
Judith is stunned to discover that her father did not follow through on his promise to take care of her after his death. Although she has plenty of work experience, she has no job references or degree, so she decides to go back to college. The only problem is she needs an inexpensive place to live and with few options open to her, she tentatively agrees to move in with Lynn. Judith is a bit uncomfortable with Lynn's grandkids, but otherwise, she is happy with their new arrangement. Eager to get started on earning her degree, she quickly signs up for classes and she is soon immersed in her studies.
While not exactly happy in her marriage, Angela is nonetheless stunned when her husband tells her he has filed for divorce. She has tried very hard to live up to his ideal of the perfect wife and she is a successful real estate agent. In the days immediately following the divorce announcement, Judith tries to accommodate his requests regarding the house and their finances, but when several of her real estate deals fall through, she begins to panic. After moving in with Lynn and Judith, Angela struggles with depression briefly as she tries to figure out what comes next both personally and professionally.
As to be expected, there are a few missteps and mistakes as the three women begin the next stage of their lives together. Lynn's tendency to mother everyone is not always appreciated although her heart is in the right place. Judith ruffles a few feathers when she makes decisions without consulting Angela or Lynn. Angela easily transitions from her previous life but the lack of job opportunities is worrisome. The three women slowly form a surprising friendship as they try to help one another cope with the abrupt changes they are experiencing.
Although a little slow paced in the beginning, Someday Home is an overall compelling novel. The premise is quite unique and Lauraine Snelling skillfully weaves the spiritual aspect into the storyline without being overly preachy. It is an absolutely delightful novel of faith, family and friendship that fans of contemporary Christian fiction are sure to love.
